How did it all get started?
The Needhams originated as a family band with Dave on bass guitar, Diane on drums, and their parents David and Eileen playing guitar. The Needhams toured the Northeastern United States until Dave joined the Dixie Melody Boys from North Carolina, and Diane married Steve Mummert and joined his family group, The Mummerts.
In 1997, Dave moved to Tennessee to return to his first love--family harmony--and in one year, The Needhams had taken on a schedule of 150+ concert events. In 2000, Diane and Steve also moved to Tennessee and joined The Needhams.
Dave married Corina in 2002, and Steve Mumemrt, Jr., joined the group in 2007 to round out The Needhams sound.

Are you all family?
Yes. Dave and Diane are brother and sister. Dave is married to Corina; Steve is married to Diane, and their son, Steve Jr., accompanies them as guitarist.

Do you write all your own music?
The Needhams are known for original songwriting, though we do occasionally perform songs from other writers. Our music is a personal expression of our faith in Christ; our hope is to share that faith and encourage others in their journey as Christ-followers.
