A decade of making music together has afforded The Needhams the time it takes to hone their sound with both passion and purpose. Audiences across the nation have discovered The Needhams offer a broad spectrum of musicality with three generations on stage. Group members employ their talents in various ways as vocalists or instrumentalists. Original songwriting and unique arrangements of familiar, beloved tunes range from organically acoustic to energetically progressive. Every song, regardless of styling, is crafted with the common basis of pure family harmony and lyrics grounded in the Word of God.

The Needhams’ focus is to present Christ’s love by way of songs with the very personal themes of faith, forgiveness and family. Their current radio single “Give It All to Me” follows the Top 80 charting “Streams of Living Water”. This latest recording, Streams, released through Song Garden Music Group (Nashville, TN) is a reflection of this intention with nine original Needham songs titled “Follow His Heart”, “Looking Ahead”, “Good God”, “Hollow of His Hand”, “Freedom is not Free”, “I Have the Rock”, and “Songs in the Night”, as well as a unique arrangement of “Faith is the Victory”, and fan requested “The Anchor Holds”.

Ten years of touring is a journey which has found The Needhams on stage at places like the Opryland Hotel, the Gibson Bluegrass Showcase, and the Stardust Theatre in Nashville, TN; the main stage of Freedom Hall for the National Quartet Convention in Louisville, KY; Bill Monroe’s Bluegrass Festival in Bean Blossom, IN; the IBRA National Finals at the Miller Coliseum, Murfreesboro, TN; Royal Caribbean cruise lines; Steamboat Days, Des Arc, AR; Labor Daze, Oakfield, NY; and much more. They have appeared on television with the likes of Jerry Johnston and First Family Church of Overland Park, KS, and they are scheduled to shoot an upcoming episode of Great American Gospel hosted by Gospel music legend Ed O’Neal, as well as an upcoming appearance on the Total Christian Television network (TCT).

Previous recordings include their recent self-titled project The Needhams (2005), A Family Christmas (2004), Saved to Serve (2004), Almost Home: Live! (2002) and Ready to Go (2001).  And with songs like “Pennies From Heaven,” “Walking on the Water,” “One Way or Another,” “Behold the Lamb,” “When the Trumpet Sounds,” “I’m Going Through,” and “He Built a Bridge,” The Needhams continue a tradition of quality music with a strong, heartfelt message.

A rich history of family harmony and their personal faith in Jesus Christ have brought The Needhams to where they are today. Ultimately, it is their goal to glorify God, encourage fellow believers, and share the Gospel.

"I highly recommend the Needhams. They have an incredible amount of talent and a wide variety in their program, including many original songs, that will keep your audience captivated with their close harmonies and playing of live instruments. Yet, they are very personable and mix well with concert-goers. The concert flows smoothly, expertly combining ministry and entertainment into an memorable evening that will have an eternal impact on many lives."    --Martin Gibbs, KGSG-FM, Pasco, WA

"I have had the wonderful privilege to share the platform with the Needham Family Singers on several occasions. We have enjoyed their ministry on the "high seas" as part of the annual GospelFest Cruise, and we've also enjoyed them here at home on the platform of the Grace Baptist Church. They are not only gifted song-writers and singers they have been gifted by the Holy Spirit with a sweet spirit and a Christ- like heart that comes across so easily as they serve God's people in the ministry of music."                               –Dr. Richard Powers, Senior Pastor, Grace Baptist Church, Brunswick, OH

The Needhams

Based in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, The Needhams began singing as a family in 1976. Original members David and Eileen Needham along with their two young children, Dave and Diane, performed in local churches throughout New York State. As their popularity and ministry flourished, The Needhams’ touring schedule expanded to include the entire Northeast.

Dave Needham joined the world-renowned Dixie Melody Boys in 1994, as bassist and vocalist. After three years of extensive travel, as well as a nomination for the Singing News Horizon Individual Award, Dave returned to his first love--family harmony. With Dave as manager, The Needhams were again touring as a family group.

Meanwhile, Diane Needham married drummer Steve Mummert and joined his family, The Mummerts, as a vocalist and guitarist where she began honing her songwriting talents. The year 2000 brought the Needham family together again, adding strength and versatility to an already gifted group.

In 2002, Dave married Corina Burrell. Corina, no stranger to family harmony, had spent many years on the road singing and playing piano with her family, The Burrells. Her rich voice and progressive songwriting round out the Needhams’ sound.

A battle with cancer in 2007 sidelined patriarch David Needham. His grandson Steve Mummert, Jr., then only 13 years of age, stepped into his place as guitarist. David is now cancer free and is beginning to tour with his family once more, bringing three generations of The Needhams to the stage.

The Needhams have recorded a number of inspirational and uplifting albums:  Ready To Go  (2001) is a completely original album featuring charting radio singles "When the Trumpet Sounds", "I'm Going Through", and "Behold the Lamb”--a top 5 pick in the US Gospel News.  Recorded at the Gibson Bluegrass Cafe in Nashville, TN, Almost Home: Live! (2002) includes "One Way or Another" as another charting song. Saved to Serve (2004), features the hit singles "Walkin' On the Water" and "I'm On My Way”, and 11 of the 12 songs were penned by Diane and Corina. A Family Christmas (2004) presents both old and new favorites, including an a cappella version of “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen”.  The Needhams (2005) followed featuring fan favorites “Pressing Toward the Mark” and  “What Grandma Said” as well as radio single “Pennies From Heaven”.

Streams (2007) has been released through Song Garden Music Group, Nashville, TN. The title cut, “Streams of Living Water” reached well inside the Top 80 nationwide. Streams includes nine original Needham tunes along with a unique rendition of the hymn “Faith Is The Victory” and fan-requested “The Anchor Holds”. The current single for The Needhams is a song penned by Diane titled “Give It All To Me”, continuing a tradition of quality music with a strong, heartfelt message.

With their combined artistry of singing, songwriting, and instrumentation, The Needhams look to the future with great optimism—never losing sight of their primary purpose, which is to uplift the name of Jesus Christ. As David Needham states, "Our goal is to glorify God, encourage the saints, and evangelize the lost.”
